The Library Project

During the period of Covid our interaction with local volunteers gave us the insight into problems faced by children due to online education. Many daily wagers had lost their jobs and were unable to provide the kids with study support material such as text books and digests. To help the community in identified slum areas resolve the problem ‘The Library Project’ was started in April 2021.

First Snehsparsh Library – Hari Nagar, Jogeshwari East

Our first free Library was inaugurated on 30th May 2021 by Shri Vipin Bhai Gala, Chairman of Navneet Education.

Second Snehsparsh Library – Opposite Dharavi Bus Depot, Dharavi

The second free Library by Snehsparsh Foundation was inaugurated by Mr Mukund Mudras , Founder of Heckle Technologies on 26th January 2022.

Some Facts

  • The Jogeshwari library has 500 members amongst children aged 5yrs to 18yrs
  • Dharavi library has 150 members
  • Membership cards as ID with pictures are issued to each member after getting their parent’s consent
  • Books are issued initially issued for 14days and can be extended by the children as per their requirement
  • Each Library has more than 1500 books which include Reading, General Knowledge, Text books and Digests
  • On average Jogeshwari has 1800 transactions where books are issued/reissued/returned
  • Dharavi in the first month of being operational has 250 transactions
  • Membership is free for all children
  • Security is of utmost importance hence both the libraries are monitored by CCTV camera

Smile Project – Sharing a smile during the Christmas period – 25th, 26th & 27th December with 5750 kids from the underprivileged strata of our society.

Under this project we are distributing 5750 gift hampers containing – notebooks, pencil set, eraser, sharpner & a sweet from the slums identified in –

  • Dharavi
  • Kurla
  • Kanjunmarg
  • Jogeshwari

These activities were planned so that we can reach out to kids and integrate with the community. Each area has 20 plus volunteers and a survey of the area has already been undertaken to make sure that we reach out to those that really need our support.
